Overview
The Victim Care & Mentor Service provides free and confidential support to people across County Durham and Darlington who have been affected by crime or anti-social behaviour.
Dove Design was commissioned to create a new website that would make the service easier to understand and, most importantly, make it easier for people to find the right support when they need it.
The site needed to work for victims, families, professionals and partner organisations — communicating clearly while staying calm, approachable and reassuring.
What we did
We designed and built a completely new website focused on clarity, accessibility and ease of navigation, structuring a large amount of information so it never feels overwhelming.
Clear routes lead into the main areas of support: victims, reporting a crime, court, Restorative Justice, stalking, anti-social behaviour and mediation. A structured referral system lets people choose self-referral or professional referral.
Dedicated sections cover the Victims’ Code (12 key rights), attending court, and a resource library of packs, leaflets and posters.
The outcome
The new site gives victims and the professionals who support them a clearer path: who the service is for, what support is available, what their rights are, and how to access help.
Referrals now go straight into the service. Resources, court information and FAQs answer common questions without a phone call. Everything is fully responsive — a central online resource for people at a difficult time.
